Sarath Kumar's Velachery Thuppaki Soodu gets a new title; the action-packed thriller is now Encounter

A few years ago, it was announced that Sarath Kumar will play the lead role in Velachery Thuppakki Soodu, which will have Inba fame ST Vendhan at the helm. Billed as an action flick, the project was said to be based on true incidents. The team has now come up with a new title.

The first look of the film, which has now been titled Encounter, has been unveiled by its makers. Sporting a beard and a gun in his hand, the veteran actor looks suave in the poster.  

The movie, which has been produced by T Rajeshwari of VR Movies, stars Ineya, Nizhalgal Ravi and Pandi among others in pivotal roles. Achu Rajamani has composed music for the film which has stunt choreography by Billa Jagan. As the title suggests, Sarath will be seen as an encounter specialist cop in the film, and its story is said to revolve around an incident which took place a few years ago.

Recently, the first look posters of the actor's The Smile Man were revealed. Directed by the Syam-Praveen duo, it marks the actor-producer's 150th movie.

Sarath was last seen in Irai (streaming on aha Tamil) which marked his OTT debut in Tamil. He was part of Parampara (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) which was released in Telugu last year. Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is one of the much-awaited films the actor has this year.

He has Paramporul, Adangathey, Pamban, Rendavathu Aattam and Pirandhal Parasakthi in his kitty. Pirandhal Parasakthi will bring his wife Radhika Sarathkumar and daughter Varalaxmi Sarathkumar along with him together for the first time.
