Karthi, who is on a roll after garnering unanimous response for the portrayal of Vanthiyathevan in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, is ready with his next outing. Sardar, directed by PS Mithran, is hitting the screens as a Deepavali release on October 21.

Billed as a full-fledged action entertainer, the movie has Raashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan essaying pivotal characters in it. The makers have unveiled the movie's trailer which offers a sneak peek into its plot. The movie has Karthi essaying dual roles for the second time in his career.

The film revolves around an honest cop who is obsessed with media appearances. He tries to ensure that his heroic acts garner maximum publicity. But not many are aware of the fact that he is a master of disguise. An unexpected situation forces him to take up a high profile case which lands him in a soup.

But little did he know that the case would lead him to a few shocking revelations about his personal life. How he handles the case which is of international relevance forms the rest of the story. Laila and Chunky Panday are others who essay key characters in the project which has been bankrolled by S Lakshman Kumar.

Dhilip Subbarayan's action sequences are expected to be a major highlight of Sardar which has GV Prakash composing music. George C Williams and Ruben have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the film which has art direction helmed by K Kadhir.

Sardar is Karthi's third outing this year; all the three films have been scheduled for release in a span of 70 days. His next project is with Raju Murugan of Joker fame which will have him joining hands with Rashmika Mandanna after Sulthan.
