Sarkaru Vaari Paata is a film Mahesh Babu fans have been looking forward to for quite a while. The film saw the Tollywood star back on the big screen after almost two years, and the trailer promised to deliver a massy avatar of the star. But it seems that, on its opening day, the film failed to live up to its hype. Viewers made their displeasure with the film known on social media and the hashtag #DisasterSVP started to trend.

Users had a lot of criticisms against the film, with one even calling it the ‘worst movie’. Many users did not hesitate to use the word ‘disaster’ in their reviews of the film, and a user talked about how the film had a ‘flat story’, a ‘weak bgm’ and not even a single interesting scene. One user posted two photographs which featured the hashtags #DisasterSVP and #BlockbusterSVP. While the latter had about 9000 tweets, the former had more than 49000 tweets using the hashtag.

Many users made use of memes to depict the situation. In one meme, a user also referred to Chiranjeevi’s Acharya and Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam as well, which also failed to live up to their hype.

Mahesh Babu was not spared of any criticism either. One user attacked the actor over his acting skills, saying that he could only do ‘larger than life roles’. Another went so far as to allege that the makers would fabricate posters which called SVP a ‘blockbuster’.

A number of users also posted about how the film failed to populate theatres. The posts included photographs of empty theatres as well.

Directed by Parasuram and produced under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, the film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.

Sarkaru Vaari Paata is now showing in theatres.
