The filmmaker claimed that he was quite afraid when he went to censor Sarvam Maya because he thought a serious officer would be present. "When I got there, the first sign I saw said that we will have to keep our phones in the locker," he stated. When the officer mentioned that she became emotional after seeing the movie and that it had been a while since she had seen a movie like this, Akhil said he was relieved. He continued by saying that he informed Nivin of this right away. "I felt a lot more confident after that," he stated.
