Aaj Ruk Jaa's female version, crooned by Shreya Ghoshal, adds to the storyline of Sarzameen. The song is all about a son of a soldier becoming a terrorist. It tells the tale of the dilemma faced by Ibrahim Ali Khan's character, as he meets his younger self and talks about how life has changed over the years.

While Ibrahim Ali Khan's story is the most impactful with Sarzameen, the song also takes us through the pain a mother and his soldier father go through after learning the truth and the sad reality of life. This, of course, is presented by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol.
