Sathuranga Vettai 2: Here's when the long-delayed film, starring Arvind Swami and Trisha, will be released

Though Arvind Swami has a few projects in his kitty, a few of them have been lying in the cans for a long time. NV Nirmal Kumar's Sathuranga Vettai 2 is one among those long-delayed films, the shooting of which was wrapped up a few years ago.

The movie was in the news last time when there were reports that makers are planning to release it in theatres in January this year. However, the film still remains unreleased due to reasons best known to them. Actor-filmmaker Manobala has produced the project which is billed as a heist thriller.

H Vinoth, who directed Sathuranga Vettai in 2014, has penned the story for Sathuranga Vettai 2, which isn't a sequel to the former. Cinematographer-turned-actor Nataraj aka Natty played the lead in the former which was a runaway hit. The latter has Trisha paired opposite Arvind Swami.

The team has now announced that the movie will hit the screens on October 7. A while ago, there were reports that Sathuranga Vettai 2 is likely to skip theatrical release and will take the OTT route, but the makers denied the news. KG Venkatesh has cranked the camera for the movie which has editing by SP Raja Sethupathi and music composition by Ashwamithra.

Indrajith, Prakash Raj, Daniel Balaji and Nasser are a few actors who play key characters in the project, the teaser of which was released in 2017. Arvind Swami has Rendagam, Kallapart, Vanangamudi, Naragasooran and Pulanaivu in his kitty among which Naragasooran remains unreleased for the last four years.

Thalaivii was his only film which got released in the pandemic era. Director Nirmal made Mismatch in Telugu after he completed Sathuranga Vettai 2 and had announced Naa Naa with Sarath Kumar and Sasikumar playing lead roles in it.
