Actress-politician Sayantika Banerjee has long remained aloof from the Bengali film industry and focused more on politics. However, recently she got involved in a controversy while working on a Bangladeshi film. Sayantika recently went to Bangladesh to shoot for the film, Chayabaj, but came back mod-way without finishing her work. She alleged that the producer was unprofessional. She also accused the choreographer, Michael, of touching her without her consent while rehearsing the dance steps.

Producer Monirul Islam retaliated by making some derogatory remarks involving Sayantika and the film’s hero Zayed Khan. He alleged the actress spent four hours in private in the hotel with Zayed. Earlier, the actor condemned the producer for his derogatory comment. Now, Sayantika hit back. In an interview with News 18, the actress said, “I am not bothered about who says what about me. I don't need to give any excuse since I know what the truth is. If a hero and a heroine sit together for hours, what is the problem?”

Sayantika also stated that what she talked about Michael had been misinterpreted. She said, “Why should I unnecessarily lie about an artiste? He tried to work with enthusiasm. Maybe he did not realize when he held my hand and tried to show the steps. It did not have any ill vibe. His close ones are spreading the rumors.”

Sayantika does not want to stop the work. If the crew wants to finish it with a professional attitude, she does not have any problem resuming Chayabaj’s work. But she can not compromise her professionalism, she said.
