Pratik Gandhi and Hansal Mehta, the duo behind the fine series 'Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story', are all set to collaborate once again for another series based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The filming of this much-anticipated biopic has begun, kicking off its first schedule in Gujarat. The duo with Applause Entertainment has now shared the first look and some behind-the-scenes stills from the sets, and they are quite interesting.
Today, the creators of the series unveiled a glimpse of Gandhi’s world, sharing a carousel of images from the set. This epic series, capturing the life and times of the Mahatma, is set to be an international production shot across various Indian and foreign locations.
While announcing that the team had started the shoot, the production house released multiple behind-the-scenes images. While posting the pictures, they captioned, “Capturing history in the making! #Gandhi filming now.”
Reports suggest that the series is adapted from Ramachandra Guha's books, 'Gandhi Before India' and 'Gandhi: The Years That Changed The World.' It is being said that the show will be shot in Gujarat and across India, with some parts of it also shot in foreign locations. While Pratik has been cast in the role of Mahatma Gandhi, there is no update on the rest of the cast members.
Pratik Gandhi, who plays Gandhi in the film, recently shared his thoughts on the role. In a conversation with Outlook, the actor expressed, “For me, this is a very important role—one of the biggest shows of my life—because I play the pivotal role of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. We will try our best to depict his life and his journey. This is one of the very first shows to tackle something of this nature in the history of entertainment."
The actor further shared that when he was approached to play this role, he realised the magnitude of this responsibility. He mentioned that he has been playing this role for years on stage, where he learned about the history of how Gandhi became a freedom fighter. He also mentioned that Mahatma Gandhi’s simplicity inspires him the most.
