Scam 2003 - The Telgi Story is one of the most anticipated biographical drama series this year. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the upcoming spiritual sequel of Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story is co-directed and helmed by Hansal Mehta.

Plot

Inspired by Sanjay Singh's famous novel titled Telgi Scam: Reporter's ki Diary, the SonyLIV series is based on the real-life story of Abdul Karim Telgi who was involved in the 2003 stamp paper scam worth Rs 30,000 crore.

Makers

The Tushar Hiranandani and Hansal Mehta directorial is developed by the latter while Karan Vyas and Kiran Yadnyopavit wrote it for the screen. Meanwhile, Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment has bankrolled the series along with Studio NEXT.

Cast

Scam 2003 - The Telgi Story stars Gagan Dev Riar as Abdul Karim Telgi and the Kya Mast Hai Life fame Sana Sheikh as his love interest. The OTT show also has Mukesh Tiwari in a key role alongside Bharat Jadhav, Shaad Randhawa, Shashank Ketkar, Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Bharat Dabholkar and Bhavana Balsavar.

Trailer

The makers dropped the official trailer ahead of the show's release which sees Riar in the titular character, who establishes a whole factory along with his few fellow mates to get the fake stamp papers printing started with the original material that he illegally possesses. The video further sees him contacting and helping a lot of corrupt politicians and also keeping a record of each and every one.

Poster

The OTT giant took to Instagram and shared a few posters featuring the important characters and dialogues from the show. The post reads, "Unveiling India’s biggest stamp paper scam story and the man behind it - Abdul Karim Telgi Scam 2003: The Telgi story, streaming on 1st September #Scam2003 #Scam2003OnSonyLiv (sic)."

Controversy

The Telgi scam shook the whole nation when the huge scandal was out in public. The mastermind of the stamp paper scam was sentenced to 30 years of rigorous imprisonment in January 2006. The sensational tale created a lot of controversies in real life, however, the upcoming OTT series is only garnering praise from the cinephiles.
