Sembi OTT release date: When and where to watch Prabu Solomon's hard-hitting social drama online

Director Prabu Solomon surprised one and all when he announced a movie with Kovai Sarala in the lead. The actress also underwent a makeover for the project, further evoking curiousity of film buffs. Titled Sembi, it was released on December 30 and was one of the last Kollywood projects which hit the screens in 2022.

The movie touched upon a sensitive topic and garnered appreciation for its sensible handling. The performances of Sarala and a few other actors were another aspect which received praise from cinephiles. Ashwin Kumar and Thambi Ramaiah among others, too, essayed pivotal roles in the film.

It revolves around a grandmother who hails from a hill tribe of Kodaikanal trying her best to provide a noble life to her granddaughter. But the former gets the shock of her life when the latter gets gangraped by three miscreants. She seeks the help of a cop to nab the culprits, but he ditches her when he is offered a huge sum by the criminals.

How she faces several hurdles to ensure justice to her granddaughter forms the rest of the story. M Jeevan's stunning visuals is also a prime attraction of the film which has music composed by Nivas K Prasanna. Buvan has edited the movie which has art direction helmed by Vijay Thennarasu.   

Sembi will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on February 3. The makers made an official announcement on the same recently with an intriguing promo featuring Kovai Sarala and Ashwin Kumar. 

Phoenix Prabu and Sri Krish have handled action episodes and dance choreography respectively. Despite earning decent reviews from critics, the film couldn't create an impact in the box office, though.
