Now, as per a report, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is getting a Gen-Z sequel.
As per Filmfare, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana will get a sequel, and for this, Abhay Verma and Nitanshi Goel are in talks. They have reportedly been approached for the upcoming love story helmed by Ratna Sinha under the banner of Benaras Media.
The 2017 film is an emotional rollercoaster as it has both romance and comedy. It explores themes of love, betrayal, and revenge. The story revolves around Satyendra (Rajkummar Rao) and Aarti (Kriti Kharbanda), who are set to marry through an arranged alliance. But on the wedding night, Aarti, who desires to be an IAS officer, leaves Satyendra at the altar to fulfil her dream, leaving both families heartbroken, especially Satyendra.
A few years later, Satyendra himself becomes an IAS officer, and fate brings them together when corruption charges are brought against Aarti, and he is assigned to her case. The film explores Satyendra's journey of revenge and his love for Aarti.
Now, it will be interesting to see what the plot will be for the sequel to Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana.
For the unversed, Abhay is popularly known for Maddock Films' Munjya. He was also featured in the popular web series The Family Man (Season 2).
In the supernatural comedy horror film Munjya, Abhay played Bittu, who, during a visit to his ancestral village, releases a vengeful spirit named Munjya from a haunted peepal tree. Munja, the spirit of a young boy obsessed with a woman named Munni, possesses Bittu and seeks to fulfill his wish by forcing him to marry Munni. The story unfolds in two timelines: in 1952, where a young boy named Gotya dies while trying black magic to get Munni to marry him, and in the present day, where Bittu faces the consequences of setting free Munjya. Sharvari played the role of Bela, Bittu's love interest and childhood friend.
Reportedly, Abhay will also be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's King. The movie, directed by Siddharth Anand, also features Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, and others.
Nitanshi Goel received worldwide praise for her Phool Kumari role in Laapataa Ladies. Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan, the film was selected as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars 2025). The film also stars Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Shrivastava.
