Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki is releasing on December 21, while Prabhas' Salaar will hit the theatres on December 22.
Following his commercial success with Jawan and Pathaan, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for the release of his third film this year. On December 21, the movie Dunki, which is the first joint venture between actor and director Rajkumar Hirani, will be released in theaters.
The SRK starrer opened advance ticket sales on Saturday and made Rs 1.36 crore in only one day. On the first day of booking, about 38,000 tickets for 2836 shows in Hindi were sold, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
However, Salaar, the action-packed pan-Indian film starring Prabhas and Prashanth Neel, will compete with Dunki at the box office. On December 22, it will be released. Beginning on December 15, Salaar's advance ticket sales have brought in an astounding Rs 1.52 crore.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadel posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Dunki Initial pre-sale starts on a remarkable note. Film has sold 10K +tickets at national chain multiplexes. Non national chains showing good movement too. If the momentum continues then Dunki will challenge top films of 2023 in terms of final advance booking. Next 3 days will give a clear picture.”
Dunki Vs Jawan Vs Pathaan Advance Bookings
When it comes to the sales of advance tickets, Dunki has started slower than Jawan and Pathaan. Within a day after ticket sales began, Jawan sold an astounding 2,00,454 tickets, bringing in a total of Rs 6.84 crore. In the same vein, despite only being available at a few locations, Pathaan had sold about 1.17 lakh tickets on the first day of advance sales across the three national theater chains.
Salaar is helmed by filmmaker Prashanth Neel and stars Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is all set to release on December 22, a day after SRK's Dunki.
Dunki is helmed by Rajkumar Hirani. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, the film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. The film is all set to release on December 21, a day before Prabhas' Salaar.
