Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan Tamil Nadu, Kerala rights sold for a record price

It would be an understatement to say that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie Jawan is the most-awaited movie event of 2023. The anticipation that the movie has managed to generate with its teaser is huge. And the trade is confident that it will be the second consecutive hit for Shah Rukh Khan and it could even outearn his last hit Pathaan. 

And distributors across the country are willing to pay premium prices to secure the theatrical rights of Jawan. Sree Gokulam Movies, one of the leading distributors in Kerala, has bagged both Kerala and Tamil Nadu rights to the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer for a record sum. According to reports, the distributor had paid a whopping Rs 50 crore. It's touted to be one of the biggest deals in the history of Kerala's box office distribution.

Sree Gokulam Movies is already basking in the success of Jailer . Starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, Jailer is a smash hit at the Kerala box office. It has exceeded expectations by raking in more than Rs 37 crore in ticket sales in its first week in the state. With a strong advance booking and unceasing craze, Jailer is set to maximise its gain during its second weekend. And Jawan will be the next big release for Sree Gokulam Movies. 

Shah Rukh Khan's movies enjoy a huge fan following in the south Indian states. His last movie Pathaan also performed well in the south cricut, bringing much-needed respite to the embattled Bollywood. However, the anticipation for Jawan is on another level, given it's written and directed by Atlee.  

Jawan also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, while Anirudh Ravichander has composed the movie's score. According to reports, the film also has a secret cameo by a huge South Indian superstar. And many are speculating it's Thalapathy Vijay. 

Jawan is due in cinemas on September 7.
