Shahid Kapoor's recent tryst with South Indian filmmakers has invigorated his career with recent successes like Kabir Singh and Jersey. While the former project brought him back in the reckoning as a top-billed star, the latter fetched him great critical reviews for the portrayal of an aging and out-of-sorts cricketer; both films were remakes of Telugu hits helmed by filmmakers of the same region.
And now, in the same vein, new reports have emerged stating that Shahid will be collaborating with Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews for a riveting project. The same report reveals that Siddharth Roy Kapur will be producing the venture which shall belong to the mystery-thriller genre.
Rosshan Andrrews is known for films such as the taut thriller Salute (starring Dulquer Salman), Mumbai Police (with Prithviraj Sukumaran), and the historical drama Kayamkulam Kochunni.
As revealed by an exclusive Pinkvilla report, Shahid and producer Sid Roy Kapur have been brainstorming over prospective collaborations and are said to have finally arrived at a suitable one. The upcoming film is currently in the pre-production stage and will go on floors once the Jersey actor sorts out his busy shooting schedule: reportedly, Shahid Kapoor is also working with Dinesh Vijan for a "unique love story" that also stars Kriti Sanon.
This would be Rosshan Andrrews' maiden Hindi project. The filmmaker is said to have already met Shahid Kapoor to discuss the script and the film in a detailed manner, and the final schedule will be decided in a month’s time.
On the other hand, Shahid Kapoor is gearing for the direct digital release of Blood Daddy, his very first collaboration with filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar; the film will premiere later this year on Voot and Jio Cinema. Kapoor will also headline Raj & DK’s upcoming web series for Amazon Prime Video titled Farzi, a comedy-thriller also starring Vijay Sethupathi, Amol Palekar, Regina Cassandra, Rashi Khanna, and many others.
