Actress Basabdatta Chatterjee is debuting on the web. She first came to the attention of the audience with her serial Boyei Gelo. Now she is seen in the serial Kar Kache Koi Moner Kotha. Now, she is setting foot in the web series Shaktirupena with Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh. It will stream on the platform Klikk.

The first teaser poster came out on Friday. A girl is seen covering her face. A series of paper cuttings are in the background that mention a gang rape.

Basabdatta, Rezwan, Amlan Majumder, and Buddhadeb Bhattacharya will play the main roles in the series. OTTplay reported it first. Surajit Mukherjee is the director and Amlan Majumder wrote the dialogues of the film. The six-episode series will be released this month.

The story is set in the village of Sutia, known as Barun Biswas's village. A series of rapes happened there. One day, Rishan and Damayanti were going in their car in the area and a girl came in front of them. Damayanti wanted to save her but the hero drove away. It was later known that the girl was gang-raped. The story tells how Damayanti will bring justice to the girl. The story involves a twist.

In a recent interview, Basabdatta said, “I was inspired by Tagore’s poem that one who does injustice and one who bears it are equally condemnable. I think it is right to protest injustice. Here I play a protesting girl. The role made me think in a new way. It will be one of my favorite roles.” She further added, “This is based on a true story. The story is set in Sutia and centres around the rape victim Nayana Mondal. The series will talk about a girl protesting for another girl. Damayanti symbolizes power and the storm of protest. I worked on the project because of the character, who dares to raise her voice against injustice and stop a crime like rape. I liked it immensely and learned many things. I will teach my daughter to protest against injustice in the future, too.”
