Sketch comedy has a popular and engaging journey on stages and screens in the US. Small humorous plays of 10 to 15 minutes are extremely popular there. Now such a genre is coming to Bengali web platforms. A project, Natok Korish Na To, is being released on Klikk which will consist of five episodes, each of which will have three sketch comedies, totaling 15 pieces. It will be released in August.
The channels head Niraj Tatia said, “Klikk always makes different experiments with content and form within a brief timespan. Natak Koris Na Toh is such an effort. This is probably the first time such work is being made on the Bangla web. We previously made Klikk Minies also, which experimented with the short-span format. We hope the audience will like it.” The director of the show Soumit Deb said, “For a long time, I wished to work with sketch comedies in Bengali. I felt good when Klikk asked me to do something like that. We used some conventional comedy tools like canned laughs. The subjects came from our daily lives. This is an experimental work.”
Debraj Bhattacharya, Avery Singha Roy, Anujoy Chatterjee, Sabuj Bardhan, and Saswati Sinha will be seen in different roles. Many of them are popular faces in theatre, web, and film. Santanu Chatterjee is the producer of the series. Sagnik Basu and Siladitya Chatterjee worked as co-writers in some of the sketches, while Soumit Deb wrote and directed the series.
