It is very rare to see all the sharks contesting with each other to convince the pitcher to sign the deal with them. But it so happened in the recent episode of Shark Tank India where all sharks Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Ashneer Grover, Vineeta Singh, Ghazal Alagh, Namita Thapar and Peyush Bansal got interested in investing in the startup.
The founders of the startup Nomad Foods Project participated in the show and presented their idea and products. They make and sell bacon jams on a small scale at the present. They presented the sample to the judges and they were soon impressed. While pitching, the budding entrepreneurs also said that they have vegetarian options too for Namita and Vineeta as they are vegetarians. Their startup focuses mainly on bacon products but they also sell vegetarian options with mushroom and onion and garlic. Their company valuation, they said, is Rs 4 crores and they offered a 'quick' deal of Rs 40 lakh for 10 per cent equity in the company.
Namita and Vineeta got very excited and made a deal together of Rs 40 lakh for 20 per cent equity. In the video released by Sony TV, the two sharks can be seen convincing the entrepreneurs to pick them as they have maximum women followers and customers. Namita says, "The two vegetarian women want to invest in the company and this is the quick deal that they want to offer." Anupam tries to ask more questions to the founders but gets interrupted by Namita, which leads to a fun banter between him and the women. Anupam asks Namita, "Will you let me ask questions or keep shouting?" Vineeta gets in the conversation quickly and mimics Anupam, speaking in a baritone voice. Namita then says, "Roasted"! Anupam says Vineeta is yet to perfect his voice and Vineeta responds that she will keep practicing.
The men are then seen getting together and murmuring to each other. All three male sharks offer the same deal together. Ghazal too then joins the women squad for the same offer. It becomes men vs women sharks for a while until Ashneer too decides to join them. The four held the fort with the offer of Rs 40 lakh for 20 per cent. The two founders had a quick discussion with each other and decided to go with the women and Ashneer. They happily pose together and walk out of the show with a cheque in their hands.
Shark Tank India is on its final e week now. The final episode will be out today, on February 4 at 9 pm. The show can be watched on Sony TV or streamed on the SonyLIV app.
