Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko and his family met with an accident on Friday. The Malayalam actor suffered injuries, while his father died. The accident happened along Salem-Bengaluru National Highway as the family were travelling from Thrissur to Bengaluru, online reports have said. Here’s the latest update.
In a tragic turn of events, Shine Tom Chacko suffered injuries and his father CP Chacko died after the car they were travelling in met with an accident. The car rammed into a lorry from behind on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway, Manorama Online has reported.
The accident happened near a place called Palcode near Dharmapuri along the Salem Bengaluru National Highway around 7am on June 6. Shine reportedly suffered injuries to both his hands. Shine, his parents, his brother and the makeup man were travelling in the car. Though all were rushed to the hospital and provided medical care, his father's life could not be saved. The injured, including Shine, are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Palcode.
For the unversed, Shine Tom Chacko is a prominent actor in Malayalam films and has also acted in other South Indian languages such as Tamil and Telugu. His last Malayalam releases was Alappuzha Gymkhana and Bazooka, both of which were released on April 10, 2025, as a Vishu release. He has also featured on recent Telugu films such as Daaku Maharaaj, which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna, and Nithiin's Robinhood. He was also part of Ajith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly.
Shine began his career as an assistant director in Malayalam film during the 2000s, before foraying into acting with movies such as Fahadh Faasil's Annayum Rasoolum and Indrajith's Ee Adutha Kaalathu. Shine featured in a prominent role in Ithihasa, helmed by Binu Sadanandan. He has also featured in movies such as Varnyathil Aashanka, Adi and Mayaanadhi, starring Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The actor has also been involved in several controversies in the past.
