In the last several days, Shivarajkumar has been busy talking about his next film, Ghost. He’s been doing dime-a-dozen in-person interviews and even doing social media promotions, popping up on an X (formerly Twitter) space and interacting with fans, or doing #AskNimmaShivanna sessions. He’s taken an active interest in the publicity of the MG Srinivas directorial that is releasing in theatres on October 19.

In earlier interviews, Srinivas had said that the script of Ghost was written for Shivarajkumar, but what was it that the Century Star found interesting in the story. Ghost, he says, is not a never-before-seen story, but what is unique about it is the way the story has been told. His character, which has multiple shades to it, has a purpose, with the narrative following a non-linear approach. A ghost, in common parlance, is something that is meant to evoke fear, but in the context of the film, the actor explains, it is a play on good, bad and ugly. “It is all about the system – the good, bad and ugly side of it,” he told OTTplay.

Ghost, according to director Srini, is based on a real incident that occurred a few years ago in Chennai. According to an official synopsis of the film found an overseas ticket aggregator site, the film follows Shivarajkumar’s character’s entry into a prison, where a stash of gold has been hidden, which he has come to steal. Why he targets this particular prison forms the crux of the story, with the narrative panning a 48-hour timeline.

The film is one of five major releases this Dasara and will clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageswara Rao, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari and Tiger Shroff’s Ganpath. It will release in about 350 centres across Karnataka, with a final show count to be decided early next week.
