The Century Star is so excited about the project that he’s planning some physical transformation too
Actor-filmmaker MG Srinivas announced a while ago that he was planning to make more than one ‘Ghost’ film with Shivarajkumar. While Ghost would be a franchise, he was also looking at creating a Srinivas Cinematic Universe by marrying it with his Birbal movies. Initially, it was thought that Ghost would be a two-part film, but then Srinivas clarified that the movie that is coming out on October 19 is a complete story by itself and will not leave audiences on a cliffhanger. So, when are they planning to do Ghost 2?
“We want to go on floors with Ghost 2 in 2024. Ghost is only a story that evolves in a two-day time frame, with a character that has several dimensions. It would be interesting to see what Srini does next. I am excited to return to play the character, and am looking at knocking off a few kilos for the same. I have a plan in mind as to how I want to take this role forward,” Shivarajkumar told OTTplay. At the moment, the actor is winding up work on his films Bhairathi Ranagal and 45, both of which have massive 50-60 days schedules pending. Once he finishes these two, Shivarajkumar will decide what to take up next, as he has a long line-up of Kannada movie offers, as well as some from other industries, following his new-found popularity based on the Jailer cameo.
In the interim, Srinivas will complete Birbal 2, in which he plays the lead and may include a Shivarajkumar cameo and then they will do Ghost 2. Considering that Ghost went from start to release in a tad less than a year, the actor-director duo is hopeful of bringing Ghost 2 to theatres in early 2025. Ghost, which is in theatres on October 19 in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam, also stars Jayaram, Anupam Kher, Archana Jois, among others. The Telugu version of the film will release a week later on October 27.
