The actors for the remaining two stories of the four-episode anthology series haven’t been signed yet.
Popular television and film actor Shweta Tiwari and Raazi actor Ashwath Bhatt have been roped in to co-star in an upcoming short anthology series called Swad. Written and helmed by Sachin Gupta with Deepti Gupta as the creative producer in association with Treasure Tales, Swad is about the little things in life that we often miss noticing. The four-episode anthology has Shweta Tiwari and Ashwath Bhatt playing a married couple in the second episode. Shweta, who shot to fame as Prerna in Ekta Kapoor’s daily soap Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Ashwat, who has acted in Netflix’s Leila, Raaz Reboot, was spotted in Delhi recently for the shoot of their short film in the anthology.
In an interview to India99 TV, Sachin Gupta said that Shweta and Ashwath play a married couple and their short is a romantic comedy about the sweet nuances and light-hearted banter. “It’s a light-hearted rom-com centering on a couple, a slice-of-life story. People will love it,” he said. He went on to define the genre as not slapstick but subtle comedy. Supermodel Riya Subodh, who won India’s Next Top Model Season 3, has been signed on to join the cast. The director added that the first story has been shot while adhering to the COVID-19 protocol, and Shweta and Ashwath will be seen in the second story. “There are two more stories, the artists for which haven’t been locked yet,” he added.
The first episode of the anthology features the television actor Ashnoor Kaur, who is known for the TV serial Jhansi Ki Rani, among others. She will be seen sharing screen space with Saanand Verma. Sachin Gupta had described them as “super-talented”.
Ashnoor Kaur told the news channel that Swad is about the little things and moments in life. She is playing an established actress in the movie who meets an admirer, played by Chhichhore actor Saanand Verma.
More details on Swad are awaited.
