Actors Siddharth and R Madhavan go a long way together. After working in Kannathil Muttamittal in which the latter was one of the leads and Siddharth an assistant director, the duo has co-starred in Ayutha Ezhuthu and Rang De Basanti. In their third onscreen collaboration, Madhavan and Siddharth will star in the upcoming Tamil film Test, which is set to premiere on Netflix on April 4.
Siddharth on working in Test: First thing I told Maddy is take no pressure
Test is an upcoming Tamil film based on cricket. The film stars Nayanthara and Meera Jasmine, alongside Madhavan and Siddharth.
In an event conducted recently, Siddharth opened up about sharing screen space once again with Madhavan. For those who don’t know, Siddharth first assisted Mani Ratnam in Kannathil Muttamittal, which had Madhavan play the lead role. Subsequently, both Siddharth and Madhavan starred in Ayutha Ezhuthu and the Hindi film Rang De Basanti.
Siddharth said, “Ever since I joined cinema, I have been learning from him. Maddy has been an incredible part of my career working in films for the last 25 years. He always looks young and which is why probably we forget to give the veteran respect he deserves.”
Talking about their journey since Kannathil Muttamittal, to Test, Siddharth mentioned, “The first thing I told him when we were working for this film is take no pressure. I am really happy to share the screen with R Madhavan. If my performance has a little bit of Maddy, then it will be truthful is what I believe. He is the real chocolate boy, heartthrob and lover boy. All the words that I have asked not to call me by for the last 20 years, are what he heard first. He notices things around him and brings them into his performance. In a way, he is a meiyazhagan.”
Test OTT release date:
Test will be Netflix's first Tamil OTT original this year. Written and directed by producer S Sashikanth in his directorial debut, the film will be skipping theatrical release and will have a Netflix premiere on April 4. The film will premiere in several Indian languages with subtitles, and has music by Shakthishree Gopalan.
