At a time when many films fail to complete two-week run in theatres, Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu has surprised the trade and movie lovers by completing 100 days run at Rohini theatre in Chennai. The movie, which is considered as a comeback for the director and Silambarasan, went on to become one of the highest collected Tamil films after the second lockdown.

The movie, which is a first-of-its-kind time-loop thriller, opened to unanimous positive reviews from critics and the audience alike upon its release on November 25. Though the movie was initially announced as a theatrical release on Deepavali, the makers could release it only after three weeks.

Interestingly, the movie's release remained uncertain a few hours before the release when producer Suresh Kamatchi took to Twitter to announce that the film may be postponed further owing to financial issues. However, within a few hours, many people in the industry got in touch with him and came forward to lend support to him.

Though the early morning shows which were supposed to begin from 5 am got cancelled, Maanaadu started screening from 8 am, leaving fans of Silambarasan and other film buffs excited. What stood out in the project is its screenplay, editing, cinematography, background score and performances from Silambarasan and SJ Suryah among others.

The star has now watched the 100th day show of the movie at Rohini theatre along with his fans. An elated Silambarasan also clicked a selfie with them and posted it on his Twitter account along with hashtags like #Maanaadu #MaanaaduBB100days #100DaysofMaanaadu #SilambarasanTR #NeengaillaamaNaanilla. The movie is currently streaming on SonyLIV.
