Maanaadu, which is billed as a political thriller, was initially supposed to be a theatrical release on November 4. The makers came up with an announcement on September regarding its release, leaving fans of Silambarasan into a tizzy. Kollywood has been eagerly awaiting a box office battle between Annaatthe, Maanaadu and Enemy

However, the Venkat Prabhu directorial postponed its release as they felt a solo release would yield them better results. The movie is expected to be the most-anticipated comeback vehicle for Silambarasan. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes music for the project which has SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Karunakaran, SA Chandrasekar and Premgi Amaren among others essaying key roles in it.

The team has now released a new still which has made movie buffs excited. It has Silambarasan and Suryah indulging in fist fight. They play Abdul Khaliq and Dhanush Kodi in the movie as protagonist and antagonist respectively. Their face-off is expected to be one of the highlights of the film which has time-loop as another interesting element.

Nani, Nivin Pauly and Rakshit Shetty came together to unveil the Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada versions of Maanaadu's trailer respectively almost two months ago while director AR Murugadoss unveiled the Tamil version. 

Earlier, Anurag Kashyap, Prithviraj, Kichcha Sudeep and Ravi Teja released the teaser of the movie's Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu versions respectively. Richard M Nathan has cranked the camera and Stunt Silva has choreographed action sequences for Maanaadu. Though the makers had earlier announced that Maanaadu will release with the title Rewind in other languages, it was later changed to The Loop
