Rohit Shetty revealed that Deepika Padukone would play the role of a female cop in one of his most anticipated directorial in December of last year during the Cirkus promotions starring superstar Ranveer Singh. Nobody was aware of the film Rohit Shetty was referring to at the time or what its general plot would be.
However, things are much clearer now.
Rohit's movie, Singham Again, will feature Ajay, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles. Not only this, but a report claims that Deepika will portray the role of Ajay’s sister in the cop drama.
According to sources close to the news portal Bollywood Hungama, "Deepika Padukone is all excited for Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. She will be playing the first female cop in the Rohit Shetty Universe and has already started prep work for this action-packed part. Deepika's character is more along the lines of a Lady Singham and has the arc of being Ajay Devgn's sister in the film."
The report also claims that Deepika’s role will not merely be restricted to a cameo appearance, and she will shoot for 35–40 days (roughly 1 month and 10 days) for the film.
"It's a well-written role and more than just a cameo. It's more like a proper extended appearance for Deepika in Singham, and she will be shooting for around 35 to 40 days," the source further told the news portal.
Only time will tell whether this development is true. Earlier, reports were rife that actor Vicky Kaushal was also a part of this project. However, it is now established that the actor is not a part of the movie.
For the uninitiated, Singham Again will be a part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe which includes remarkable films namely Singham (2011); Singham Returns (2014); Simmba (2018); Sooryavanshi (2021); Singham Again (2024) and Prime Video series, Indian Police Force (2023).
