Sirai, the 2025 Tamil crime drama starring Vikram Prabhu in the lead role, is currently running in theatres and has been receiving good reviews from critics. At the box office, Sirai has managed to collect a little over Rs 1 crore. Here is exactly how much Sirai made on its opening day.

Coming at the fag end of the year, Sirai hit theatres for Christmas. The crime drama which is said to be based on true incidents, and is directed by Suresh Rajakumari in his debut. As per Sacnilk, the film has made Rs 1.15 crore at the box office worldwide. In India, the film made Rs 1 crore, that mainly comes from Tamil Nadu. With good word of mouth, Sirai is expected to register good influx of audience during the weekend, given not many films are running in theatres that have been received well. It is also to be noted that Retta Thala, another film which hit big screens on the same day, had made Rs 0.65 crore, almost half of what Sirai made.
Sirai revolves around head constable Kathirvanan who is posted to escort murder accused Abdul to court. But the journey is not simple as Kathiravan gets to know about Abdul, his backstory as the film traces the burden of identity and how law can get partial to few communities.

Sirai is written by director Tamizh, who has earlier made Vikram Prabhu’s critically acclaimed Taanakkaran. Tamizh, who has served the AR police department, had written both the films from his experiences and what he witnessed.
With Vikram Prabhu leading the project, Sirai also stars debutant LK Akshay Kumar as Abdul, along with Ananda Thambirajah, Anishma Anilkumar, Harishankar Narayanan, Remya Suresh, Siju Wilson and others. Madhesh Manickam has shot the film with music scored by Justin Prabhakaran. Philomin Raj is the editor. The post-theatrical streaming rights of Sirai have been bagged by ZEE5 and will stream there after its theatrical run. It will also be available on OTTplay Premium as well.
