Akshay Kumar's dry spell at the Box Office finally comes to an end, since his movie Sky Force, which marks the acting debut of Veer Pahariya, has finally managed to cross Rs. 100 crore mark. It took two weeks, but the movie is finally there. Sky Force is also Akshay's first Rs. 100 crore club film post-COVID, at least one where he is not just in an extended cameo. The last time he crossed Rs. 100 crores at the Box Office was right before lockdown, when Good Newwz released in 2019. The movie had minted over Rs. 200 crore club at the Box Office. Can Sky Force recreate that magic? Here's looking at the stats...

Sky Force budget vs cost recovery

Sky Force might be a hit because of the rights sold, but it still has a long way to go at the Box Office. The movie is now in its second weekend and it managed to mint nearly Rs. 10 crores on Saturday. Given the current situation, Sky Force might have crossed Rs. 100 crore mark but Rs. 160 crore might just be a mark they touch or just miss during the theatrical run. Thus, the film is unlikely to get the blockbuster tag, even if it is somehow a hit at the Box Office. But it is a win for Akshay Kumar after his 5-year debacle.

Sky Force had minted over Rs. 91 crores on day 8. This means that the movie has earned over Rs. 10 crores on day 9, which is the second Saturday.

Films featuring Akshay Kumar in extended cameos did cross Rs 100 crores even post-COVID

The biggest example of it is Stree 2, which earned approximately Rs. 600 crore at the Box Office. The 2024 release saw Akshay in an asylum and the mystery is that he could be the Sarkata in the Stree universe.

Another movie featuring him that crossed the mark was also released in the same year. We're talking about Singham Again, where Akshay reprised his role of Inspector Sooryavanshi. The movie earned Rs. 247.85 crores at the Box Office.

However, the only two movies that might share the same fate are Sky Force and OMG 2. Both featuring two male leads, Sky Force could follow OMG 2's Box Office and cross Rs. 150 crore mark but it might take a while to reach there since the movie is now in its second week and faces some competition from Shahid Kapoor's Deva.
