Just a day ago, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn celebrated his 55th birthday! Loads of celebrities and social media users including Salman Khan, Suniel Shetty, and Riteish Deshmukh greeted the couple on the special occasion. And today, Ajay’s fans might have another reason to rejoice! A fresh report stated today that Son of Sardar 2 will be directed by Punjabi filmmaker Vijay Kumar Arora.
Son of Sardar 2 to be directed by Vijay Kumar Arora?
As per a report by Peeping Moon, Ajay Devgn has Vijay Kumar Arora as the director for Son of Sardar 2. The project is currently in pre-production and is set to start filming later this year, with a planned release in mid-2025.
Vijay Kumar Arora, known for his successful work as a cinematographer-turned-director in Punjabi cinema, has directed hit films like Harjeeta (2018), Baby Dolls (2019), Kali Jotta (2023), and Godday Godday Chaa (2023). Son of Sardar 2 will be his first venture as a Bollywood director, showcasing his expertise gained from years of experience in cinematography.
What else do we know about Son of Sardar 2?
For those who don’t like the franchise, let us tell you that Son of Sardaar, a funny and action-packed movie released in 2012, was helmed by director Ashwni Dhir. It is a remake of the 2010 Telugu film Maryada Ramanna by SS Rajamouli and features top actors Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, and Juhi Chawla. The film premiered on November 13, 2012, and even included a special appearance by Salman Khan. The movie can be viewed anytime on Disney Plus Hotstar now. Plans are now underway for a sequel to continue the story.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ajay Devgn is eagerly looking forward to Maidaan – a sports drama directed by Amit Sharma. It will be released on April 10, coinciding with Eid festivities. Also, the film will clash with Akshay Kumar starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
