Comedian-turned-actor Soori, who was last seen in family drama Maaman, has announced his next Tamil film. It will be directed by R Ravikumar, who had made science fiction film Ayalaan with Sivakarthikeyan, earlier.

Soori’s next announced: What is the project about?

Soori, who started out as a comedian, soon turned into a protagonist and donned some serious roles in films like Maaman and Kottukkaali. The actor has now announced a new Tamil film, which will be directed by filmmaker R Ravikumar. It is produced by Telugu production house Mythri Movie Makers, in their third outing in Tamil after Ajith-starrer Good Bad Ugly and Dude featuring Pradeep Ranganathan.

The announcement was made with an intense poster showing the hero from behind, waist-deep in murky floodwater. His reflection ripples in distorted shapes, as he holds a weapon. Around him lies a trail of wreckage- shattered utensils, scattered debris, and an overturned gas cylinder.

Meanwhile, Soori's next film to release will be sports action drama Mandaadi. Soori has begun to experiment with his films in which he plays the lead role. While his Maaman was a family entertainer, Kottukkaali had opened to critical acclaim worldwide. With Mandaadi, Soori will embark on action genre for the first time.

Written and directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi who made Selfie, Mandaadi will also feature Suhas and Mahima Nambiar in prominent roles. The film will revolve around the boat racing sports that is common in Thoothukudi. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring music with the release date yet to be announced. The technical crew includes SR Kathir cranking the camera and editor Pradeep E Ragav. Director Vetrimaaran will be the creative producer of the film.
