Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year. The makers of the third installment of the MCU’s Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland dropped the first official poster of the movie earlier today.
The movie has been subject to a lot of speculations and theories from the side of the fans since its announcement. Considering the fact that the movie will delve into the multiverse concept as its core element, these speculations are understandable.
The poster for the film mainly features the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man as he is seen in the Iron Spider suit, looking at the tentacles of an old but new foe, Doc Ock.
While Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock was the main antagonist in Sam Raimi’s influential Spider-Man 2, this is the first time he will be meeting Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. This is the direct influence of the chaos caused by Doctor Strange’s spell gone wrong, which results in the multiverses coming together.
The poster however, addresses one of the most discussed characters that could be in the movie. The evil Green Goblin. Also seen in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, the character was played by Willem Dafoe.
Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin can be seen hovering in the background on his menacing hoverboard in the poster. Though very small in size, it can be made out that this mystery character is indeed Green Goblin.
The poster also hints at the presence of two more Spider-Man villains - Sandman and Electro. Sandman was from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, while Electro, played by Jamie Foxx was seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 helmed by Marc Webb.
While neither are physically seen in the poster, the yellow streak of lightning seen across the poster hints at the presence of Electro and the spiral looking sand storm is reminiscent of the Sandman’s powers.
While the makers of the movie have successfully kept all the secrets to themselves, fans now have high hopes about these villains making the movie, and even the presence of the Sinister Six, a group of super-villains drawn from the list of the wall crawlers list of enemies.
