Manjari Makijany’s Disney Channel original movie Spin is all set to release on OTT. Starring Michela Luci and Kerri Medders in lead roles, the movie will premiere on Disney+Hotstar on August 15. The film, which marks Abhay Deol’s Disney debut stars Michela Luci, Kerri Medders, Anna Cathcart, Meera Sayal, Agam Darshi in prominent roles.Adding to the impressive list of Disney Channel teenage comedies, Spin charts the story of Rhea Kumar played by Avantika Vandanapu, an Indian American teen who finds her passion in composing DJ recreations and mixes, seamlessly blending the rich elements of her South Asian culture with the Western culture and the way of life surrounding her.

Watch the trailer, which dropped on June 25, here.

Rhea’s days pass on around her friends Molly, Watson and Ginger who are part of her after-school coding crew. To top it all, her life also comprises an Indian restaurant and a big, fat multigenerational family. Everything is smooth-sailing until Rhea stumbles upon love. She falls in love with DJ Max that spurs her innate passion for music and beats, and rhythm and spins on with it.

Speaking to HollywoodLife, Michael Bishop who plays DJ Max has described his character as ‘extremely passionate and fun’ and the perfect blend of ‘dorky and cool.’ Talking about her character Ginger, Kerri Medders told HollywoodLife that she is a social media content creator who utilises her popularity to support and push her friends towards achieving their goals. Medders went on to appreciate how big-hearted Ginger is with the ones she is close to.

Anna Cathcart, who plays Molly, termed her character to be a supportive, loyal and encouraging friend who always stands up for her tribe and is good at coming up with inventions at the school’s coding club. While Jabbril Cook, who essays the role of Watson, is Molly’s partner-in-crime. Cook told HollywoodLife that Jabbril is the ‘savvy designer’ of Rhea’s gang with an eye for detail. Together they are one unbeatable, cool, dream team.

Very recently, Abhay Deol has filled in on the movie, saying that it marks his venturing into a feel-good movie that will leave a smile on your face. And we reckon that will only add to the excitement as you wait for the movie to stream onto your device this Friday.
