The film's narrative revolves around his life from a small town to becoming the first visually impaired student in Management Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Going by the advance booking of the film, it managed to sell more than 15000 tickets till yesterday for its first day. According to Pinkvilla, 12000 tickets were sold in PVR Inox and around 3000 in Cinepolis. However, the single-screen count for the film has been low. Going by the advance booking of the film, Srikanth is expected to open in the vicinity of 2-2.5 crore at the box office on its first day.

Srikanth is the solo Hindi release at the box office, hence it won't face any competition which might be helpful for the film. Given that the subject of the film is encouraging and inspirational, the film might attract more audiences after positive word of mouth. However, the film will have little competition with the Hollywood film, Kingdon Of The Planet Of The Apes. Although this film caters to a completely difference audience, it will not affect this Rajkummar starrer on a bigger level.
Meanwhile, earlier, in an interview with First Post, Rajkummar Rao spoke about playing Srikanth. He was quoted as saying, "I wouldn't say exactly, but I could somehow relate with his background because he too comes from a very humble background. And in my life also there were a lot of hardships when it came to money and having a big dream in life and to actually achieve that dream was something I could relate to."
