The much-anticipated Kavin film Star has finally hit theatres, and has been creating waves among the audience. The film, directed by Elan of Pyaar Prema Kaadhal-fame, is about a boy who wants to make big as an actor. The film opened to mixed to positive response, with audiences thronging to theatres to catch the film.

As per reports, the Kavin-starrer has approximately collected Rs 2.70 crore on day one of its release. The film hit big screens on May 10, along with Arjun Das' Rasavathi and Ameer-starrer Uyir Thamizhkku. The film has been witnessing an occupancy of 61.33% overall in Chennai theatres. Star is expected to increase in footfall over the weekend.
Star features Kavin in the lead role. He plays the role of Kalai, a youngster from middle-class background who wants to make it big in the film industry as an actor. As he is caringly supported by his father, played by Lal, Star is an underdog’s story of a man in pursuit of his dreams. The film also stars Geetha Kailasam, Preity Mukhundhan, and Aaditi Pohankar, among others.
The film packs in three pleasant surprises that you might want to experience first hand in theatres. Star opened to mixed to positive response upon its release, with many praising Kavin’s performance in the film.

Star marks Kavin’s first release this year. He was last seen in the 2023 Tamil hit film Dada, in which he played a single father alongside Aparna Das. The film was shot by Dada cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K and edited by Pradeep E Ragav. Yuvan Shankar Raja. who scored for Pyaar Prema Kadhal, has composed for Star as well. The post-theatrical rights of Star have been bagged by Prime Video.
It is to be noted that Star was first launched with actor Harish Kalyan. However, due to reasons undisclosed, Kavin came onboard the project. Recently Harish Kalyan had taken to his social media handle to wish best for Kavin and Star team.
