The world of Stranger Things is nearing its climax, with Season 5 bringing an end to the main story. The thought of watching it one last time has already made fans emotional. The cast and crew have been filming the final season for a while now, and while the creators and Netflix are keeping plot details tightly under wraps, they’re also building anticipation. Recently, David Harbour offered some insight into the show, particularly about the finale, which he describes as a tearjerker. He recalls how the table read of the final episode left everyone crying uncontrollably.

David Harbour on the Stranger Things Season 5 Finale

Stranger Things, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, David Harbour, Joe Keery, Winona Ryder, and others, follows a group of teenagers haunted by the Upside Down in their town. In the final season, Eleven and her friends will face off against Vecna, the leader of the Upside Down, for the last time. According to Harbour, the finale is the best episode of the series yet. Here’s what he had to say.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, David Harbour called the Stranger Things Season 5 finale “the best episode they’ve ever done.” He added, “They land the plane. During the table read — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying. In the last 20 minutes, there was just uncontrollable crying, waves of it, from different people. Noah Schnapp was my favorite.”

Harbour continued, “Part of it is that these kids grew up with the show. It’s 10 years later, and the story explores that idea. It’s so well done and beautiful. It’s such a great episode, and such a great season. You guys will love it.”

Matt Duffer on Stranger Things Season 5

Meanwhile, Matt Duffer of the Duffer Brothers recently explained that Season 5 will mirror Season 1, but on a larger scale. He told The Guardian, “This season is like Season 1 on steroids. It's the biggest it's ever been in terms of scale, but it’s been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins — the boys and Eleven interacting again, more like in Season 1. And yes, there might be spin-offs, but the stories of Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper end here.”

Stranger Things Season 5 is currently in production, but there’s no official release date yet. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
