Su From So released in theatres only a week after the much-hyped Yuva Rajkumar starrer Ekka, and came out along with Mahavatar Narasimha, Son of Sardaar 2, Thalaivan Thalaivii and Maareesan. It was also only weeks before the big-ticket Rajinikanth-led Coolie. July 25 was not considered a great date for small film that a little more than a month earlier, no one really knew of. But then, the film exceeded all expectations and how when it became a runaway hit, banking solely on the strength of word-of-mouth publicity from the paid premieres in the days ahead of the release.
