Subham is a smash hit on OTT: Samantha Ruth Prabhu's film clocks record views

Subham is Samantha Ruth Prabhu's latest release, which started at a very slow pace at the box office, but things changed when the star heroine started promoting the film aggressively. Zee5 had bagged the digital rights but backed out of the OTT deal at the last minute, leaving Samantha and her team in trouble. 

Subham is now streaming on Jio Hotstar

After a few days, Samantha finalized the deal with Jio Hotstar, and the film has been available for streaming since June 13, 2025. One of the sources close to the platform revealed to us that Subham has clocked just over 150 million streaming minutes online. 

This is a good number because the film does not have any noted actors in key roles. Praveen Kandregula directed the film and impressed one and all with his narrative. More than anything, the social message he conveyed through Subham is being loved by audiences.

Subham is about women getting possessed while watching a TV show at 9 PM daily. Why they behave in such a manner and what the backstory is are showcased hilariously. Subham is Samantha's debut production, and the film was made on a budget of just Rs 10 crore. 

Though the film started on a dull note, aggressive promotion, lack of other releases, and word of mouth helped the film earn just over Rs 20 crore at the box office. 

Samantha lands in decent profits with Subham

Samantha landed decent profits with this film and stated in an interview that Subham has encouraged her to follow her instincts and give chances to young directors to showcase their talent. 

Rag Mayur played a small role but impressed one and all in Subham. He says that though his role is tiny, he received a lot of praise on social media. Those who like horror comedies should stream the film right away on Jio Hotstar. Stay tuned for more updates on this project.
