Sukhee 2 - Shilpa Shetty Starrer's sequel greenlit after its warm Netflix reception; here's everything we know

Amid the big box office vehicles and the massive buzz they managed to create, there was a movie that brought back Shilpa Shetty to our screens and re-established her charm and irresistible screen presence. Sukhee, released earlier this year opened to mixed criticism, but something about the movie did strike the right chord with the audience, and the movie did garner decent footfalls. But turns out its Netflix premiere was the real deal because the latest update now speculates that Sukhee 2 is now in development.

If the latest reports are to go by, the reception of Sukhee on Netflix has been so good that the makers are now convinced to take the movie ahead and convert it into a franchise. A Pinkvilla report has suggested that the makers of the Shilpa Shetty starrer are taking the story ahead with Sukhee 2 as the Netflix reception has left them convinced. The sequel is said to carry forward some characters from the first part and have some new ones join too. 

A source close to the development said, “Looking at the tremendous response to Sukhee on Netflix, the makers have now decided to make Sukhee 2 with Shilpa Shetty Kundra headlining the movie again. The director and writers have begun ideating for the second installment, which will feature many actors from the first part, and a couple of new actors as well.”

The source further also confirmed that the makers are planning to pull off a casting coup. They will begin the process once Sonal Joshi has a script in place. “The makers are also planning to pull off a casting coup with part 2. Once the scripting is locked, Sonal will begin with the casting process. As of now, the makers are eying to kickstart shooting in the summer of 2024,” the insider concluded.
