Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt, Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary to lead R Balki's thriller

Filmmaker R Balki has announced his next directorial which is set to be of a thriller genre. The film features an ensemble cast which is indeed exciting. The untitled film stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the lead roles. Balki shared his excitement about bringing the stellar actors together for his ambitious project.

In a statement, the filmmaker stated, "After months of waiting, for me, it is exciting to start shooting anything. And to make a film in a genre that I haven't attempted before is even more exciting."

Balki revealed that he had the idea for a long time but never quite got around to writing it. He called it fundamentally a thriller film that banks so much on Sunny, Dulquer, Pooja and Shreya. The Paa helmer said that he can't wait to get into the editing room soon. 

Talking about casting Sunny in the film, Balki revealed he is ecstatic to be working with the actor whose booming screen presence conveys so much. The filmmaker is glad that Sunny is back and hopes this new adventure will add a new dimension to his glorious filmography.

About Dulquer, Balki called him one of the most charming actors in Indian cinema today. Although he didn't dish out details on his role, the Pad Man director added, "I am really looking forward to his distinct and cool interpretation of it."

He praised Pooja by further saying, "She is clarity personified and just born to be in front of that camera and on-screen."

Balki revealed that he thanked Alankrita Srivastava for bringing Pooja back to the screen with Bombay Begums.

The filmmaker couldn't stop praising Shreya after watching her in Scam 1992 and The Family Man. He said, "I just knew that I would eventually work with this talented girl. She is one of the most exciting and contemporary performers."

Balki revealed that Dulquer and Shreya are paired opposite each other in the thriller.

The film is set to be an early 2022 release.
