Suriya, the National award-winning actor is now set to reunite with the acclaimed filmmaker Sudha Kongara, for his 43rd outing in cinema. The actor-director duo’s upcoming project, which has been tentatively titled Suriya 43, is set to start rolling in Madurai, in a few weeks. Even though nothing much has been revealed about the project, the sources close to the project suggests that the Suriya starrer is an out-and-out action drama.
The makers of the Sudha Kongara directorial officially launched the project a couple of months ago, with a special announcement teaser. However, the Suriya 43 team members revealed just the second half of the film’s official title, leaving the cine-goers curious. However, the sources close to the multi-starrer have now dropped a major update on the film’s full title.
What is the full title of Suriya 43?
As you may know, the second half of the film, which was released along with the announcement title, reads ‘Puranooru’. Now, the sources close to the Sudha Kongara directorial reveal that the project is set between 1950 and 1965 time period, in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai city. If the reports are to be believed, the Suriya starrer has been titled either '1965 Puranooru' or 'Puranooru 1965'. However, we will have to wait till the official title reveal of the movie, to know if these latest reports are true.

For the uninitiated, the word Purananooru refers to the last installment of the legendary eight Sangam literature anthologies. From the second half of the title of Suriya 43, it is evident that Sudha Kongara and her team are gearing up to make an out-and-out action movie, as the final part of the Sangam literature largely revolves around the concept of ‘heroism’.
Suriya 43- Cast and Crew
The highly anticipated project reportedly features leading man Suriya in two different looks. The National award-winner is set to shed weight and sport a new look, to appear in the college portions of the action drama. Along with Suriya, popular actor Dulquer Salmaan is also playing a key role in the project. Nazriya Nazim Fahadh appears as the female lead opposite Suriya in the movie, which stars Bollywood actor Vijay Varma as the lead antagonist. GV Prakash Kumar composes the music for the project, which is bankrolled by Suriya’s home banner, 2D Entertainment.
