Suriya officially announces commencement of Suriya 42; posts picture with Siva and Devi Sri Prasad

Suriya's next outing, which has been tentatively titled Suriya 42, was officially launched a couple of days ago. The actor has now taken to Twitter to inform that the film's shooting has begun today and posted a picture with director Siva and musician Devi Sri Prasad. 

This is the first collaboration between Suriya and Siva. Devi aka DSP has earlier worked with the filmmaker in Veeram and has scored music for Suriya's Aaru, Singam and Singam 2. Though there was news about Anirudh being brought on board for Suriya 42, DSP bagged the opportunity.

Disha Patani's name is doing the rounds with regard to the female lead of the project, but the makers are tight-lipped about it. Vetri and Supreme Sundar have come on board to handle cinematography and action choreography respectively for the film.

An announcement on the cast and other crew members is expected soon. Suriya is likely to join Bala's Vanangaan to complete its pending portions after wrapping up the first schedule of Suriya 42. Though there are chances of Vanangaan releasing this year, fans are awaiting a confirmation.

The actor will then join Vetri Maaran's ambitious movie Vaadivaasal. A test shoot of the movie was done earlier this month. Suriya was last seen in a cameo appearance in the Tamil version of Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). 

Pandiraj's Etharkkum Thunindhavan (streaming on Netflix and Sun NXT), which released earlier this year, was the star's last outing which had him play the lead role. The film was his first theatrical release in the pandemic era. Both his outings Soorarai Pottru (2020) and Jai Bhim (2021) were direct OTT releases on Amazon Prime Video.
