Suriya's Soorarai Pottru bags another feat; the Sudha Kongara directorial to be screened at THIS film festival

A few more months and Soorarai Pottru, the most acclaimed Tamil film in recent times, will celebrate its second anniversary. The Sudha Kongara directorial was released directly on Amazon Prime Video in 2020 after the makers gave up hope on theatrical release because of the pandemic. 

The Suriya-starrer bankrolled by the star himself under his banner 2D Entertainment opened to unanimous positive reviews from critics and the audience alike. The film which was based on the life of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath was the first big ticket movie to have a direct OTT release from Tamil.

Upon its release, Soorarai Pottru received much critical acclaim from several quarters and was screened at numerous film festivals. The movie is now being remade in Hindi under the direction of Sudha, and Suriya will be seen essaying a cameo in it. Fans of the star are eager to know about his role in the untitled Bollywood flick which has Akshay Kumar playing the lead.

GV Prakash, who composed impressive songs and background score for the Tamil film, has been brought on board for the Hindi version as well. 

The social media handle of its production house has now announced that the much celebrated movie will be screened at the third edition of Womens International Film Festival at Kerala on July 18. Interestingly, the news has been announced today, on the birthday of Sudha Kongara.

Suriya and Sudha Kongara are said to be teaming up for another project, the details of which are awaited. The duo and GV Prakash had earlier confirmed that the three of them will collaborate again. A while ago, leading production house Hombale Films announced a film with Sudha Kongara. Fans of Suriya are looking forward to knowing if their favourite star is part of the project.
