By now, it is well known that Suriya is finally making his Telugu debut. The star actor is currently shooting for an untitled project directed by popular filmmaker Venky Atluri. The film is being backed by the producers of DJ Tillu and is mounted on a lavish scale with a huge budget, making it one of the most anticipated Telugu projects in the coming months.
Suriya's Telugu debut makes headlines
According to the latest buzz, Suriya will be seen playing a 45-year-old man in the film, portraying a character close to his real age. The movie features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, and she will reportedly play a 20-year-old woman who falls in love with Suriya’s character.
Ever since this age-gap aspect was revealed during an interview, social media has been abuzz with speculation that the film is inspired by or loosely based on the Anil Kapoor–Sridevi starrer Lamhe, directed by the legendary Yash Chopra.
In Lamhe, Anil Kapoor’s character falls in love with Sridevi, and after her death, her daughter develops feelings for him. However, in this film, Venky Atluri is said to have altered the backdrop significantly by focusing on the emotional and romantic dynamics between a mother and her daughter.
A well-known actress will be seen playing the elder version of the heroine, and her name is expected to be announced soon. While the makers have clarified that the film is not a remake, the comparisons continue to trend online.

It has been quite some time since audiences have seen Suriya in a full-fledged romantic role, and Venky Atluri is all set to present him in both a mature and charming avatar.
