The makers of Suseenthiran's Shiva Shivaa had earlier announced that the movie will henceforth be known as Veerapandiyapuram. Jai plays the lead in the movie which is set against the backdrop of a village and Meenakshi Govindarajan will be seen essaying the female lead in it.

The film marks Jai's debut as a music composer, too. The first single from the movie, Kaadamutta, was released by the makers a few months ago. A few days ago, it was announced that the project will hit the screens on February 18. Now, the team has advanced its release date by a day.

The movie, which will have a theatrical release on February 17, will be the first Tamil project to screen with 100 per cent occupancy in Tamil Nadu after the restrictions owing to third lockdown were lifted recently. The release of Ajith's Valimai on February 24 is another reason why the makers chose to release the movie a day earlier. 

Billed as a revenge thriller, Veerapandiyapuram has Kaali Venkat, Balasaravanan, Harish Uthaman, Jayaprakash, Sathru, Sarath Yogesh, Aruldoss and Muthukumar among others essaying pivotal roles in it. S Aishwarya has bankrolled the movie under Lendi Studios.

R Velraj and Mu Kasi Vishwanathan have handled the project's cinematography and editing respectively. Sekar B has handled its art direction while Bhaskar Sakthi has penned dialogues for the movie. Dinesh Kasi and Shobi Paulraj have helmed action sequence and dance choreography respectively for Veerapandiyapuram.

The trailer of the film was released by Silambarasan recently. Arya unveiled its teaser a few months ago and the project's title look was unveiled by Venkat Prabhu in 2020. Jai, who was previously seen in Disney+ Hotstar's Triples, now has almost half-a-dozen films in his kitty.
