Suzhal The Vortex S1 recap: Ahead of second season premiere, here's what happened in Pushkar- Gayatri's series so far

Prime Video is gearing up for the second season of its Tamil web series Suzhal: The Vortex. The crime thriller series comes from filmmaker duo Pushkar and Gayatri who are spearheading it as creative showrunners.

The second season is all set to hit the streaming platform on February 28. And it is the best time to revisit the first season before binge-watching the second season. If you haven’t watched the first season or faintly remember what happened so far, don’t you worry. Here is everything you need to know and recap of what has happened so far in Suzhal.

Suzhal The Vortex S1 recap

The first season was set in the fictional town of Saambaloor in Tamil Nadu, and explored the investigation of a missing girl Nila, as it unravels into the deeper and darker secrets of the residents of the village. The series starred actors Kathir, Aishwarya Rajesh, R. Parthiban and Sriya Reddy, among others. With Aishwarya Rajesh playing Nandhini’s, Nila’s sister and Kathir as inspector Sakkarai, Suzhal placed a murder mystery at the forefront.

While for most, the series led us to believe that Nila eloped with her lover Adhisayam, who is the son of inspector Regina (Sriya Reddy), and also tricked us to believing at a point that Adhisayam would have also tortured Nila, the climax came as a shocking twist. After recovering the bodies of Adhisayam and Nila embracing together ruled out the possibility, we come to know Nila’s cause of death is something else. It has got to do with her childhood trauma that she shared with her sister Nandhini. After a certain someone who was bestowed with immense trust, took advantage of it and inflicted trauma on the sisters, Nandhini takes up on herself to revenge for her sister’s death. She confronts the killer and finishes him off.

What will Suzhal S2 be all about?

Suzhal Vortex S2 will continue from where the first season ended. Nandhini is jailed for crime, and the second season begins with the shocking murder of senior activist lawyer Chellapa, who defended her. Sakkarai is summoned to assist the family in their time of crisis. Set against the backdrop of the massive Ashtakaali Festival, the case unravels family secrets and betrayals, and acts in the past that cast long shadows on the present.
