The makers of Vikram Prabhu-starrer Taanakkaran have released the trailer along with its release date. The two-minute video has been unveiled from Karthi's Twitter page. He posted, "Some stories wait to be told at a particular time. This one seems like that. Feeling very happy to share the trailer of #Taanakkaran (sic)."

The movie directed by Tamizh will have a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar on April 8 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam . The trailer begins with MS Bhaskar explaining about the unfair and brutal treatment trainees face at an infamous police recruit school to Vikram Prabhu. The latter is one of the new trainees who have joined the camp along with many others.

Madhusudhanan, Lal and Bose Venkat among others play pivotal characters in the project which has Anjali Nair playing the female lead in it. SR Prakash Babu, SR Prabhu, P Gobinath and Thanga Prabaharan R have produced the movie under Potential Studios.

Madhesh Manickam has cranked the camera for Taanakkaran which has editing by Philomon Raj and music composed by Ghibran. Thiruman S Ragavan has helmed the film's art direction and Stunner Sam has choreographed its action sequences.

The movie's story revolves around how Vikram Prabhu's character starts reacting to senior cops in a harsh manner when he loses trust in the system and law. The actor had shed a few kilos to play the role and the makers had chosen real police officers to play most of the characters in the film.

The team had released a single from Taanakkaran a few weeks ago. Vikram's Prabhu's last outing, Pulikkuthi Pandi, too, had skipped theatrical release. The rural drama directed by Muthiah had a direct release on Sun NXT earlier last year.
