Nagabhushana-starrer Tagarupalya: Release date, trailer, plot, cast, budget, OTT partner and more

Daali Dhananjaya is among the few actors of the current generation of Kannada cinema who believe in promoting new and enterprising talent. While he continues to experiment as a leading man, Dhananjaya is also slowly creating an exciting repertoire for himself as a film producer. One valid entrant to this is the upcoming release 'Tagarupalya', which marks his third endeavour as a producer under the banner of Daali Pictures.

Here's everything you need to know about Tagarupalya, which happens to be the only major Kannada release of October 27th week.

Release Date

Initially, Tagarupalya was meant to arrive in theatres as a Kannada Rajyotsava release but the makers announced later that the film would instead release a few days prior. Dhananjaya himself took to social media not very long ago to confirm that his production venture will hit the big screen on October 27. Luckily, Tagarupalya will be the only big Kannada release of that box office week but the film may still have to contend with the previous week's biggies Leo, Ghost, Bhagavanth Kesari and Tiger Nageswara Rao, which are still going strong. Alongside, Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon is out in theatres in India on October 27.

Plot

While one knows that the title of the film refers to a culinary tradition belonging to a specific region in Karnataka, the recently released trailer offered a great peek into the world that debutant director Umesh K. Krupa has created. Tagarupalya, in essence, is a comedy-drama centred around the said tradition but evidently plays out more like a farce or a satire involving an auspicious occasion and a big crowd. The charm of the film, as suggested by the trailer, lies in how things slowly spiral out of control to expose a few intriguing elements of human nature.

Trailer and other promotional material

The first trailer of Tagarupalya dropped on October 19th and was met with encouraging response by viewers who felt the film's rustic setting and authenticity were its main highlights. Many of them also noted that the film, as revealed in the trailer, is part of the current trend in the Kannada Film Industry which is bringing original and rooted narratives to the fore. The trailer launch event was graced by Challenging Star Darshan who spoke highly about the film.

Alongside, the makers have also released two singles from the soundtrack, including the title track and a melodious number called Suryakanthi Naanu. The former is a chirpy number that has all the flavour of the region that the film is set in while Suryakanthi Naanu is a romantic number penned by Daali Dhananjaya himself. Vasuki Vaibhav is the film's music composer.

Cast and Crew of Tagaru Palya

Tagarupalya has Nagabhushana playing the lead with 'Lovely Star' Prem's daughter Amrutha Prem making her acting debut. The principal cast of the film also includes Rangayana Raghu, Tara Anuradha, Sharath Lohitashwa, Vasuki Vaibhav, Chitra Shenoy, Vaijanath Basappa Biradar, Ravi Hunsur and others. 

Umesh K Krupa is credited as both the writer and the director of the film with SK Rao serving as the cinematographer and Madhu Thumbakere as the editor.

Budget

Tagarupalya could be safely categorized as a medium-scale project but the makers are yet to disclose the exact budget of the film.
