It's been a while since actor Siddharth had a film release in Tamil. So, when the release date of Takkar was announced (June 9), fans were glad to have him back on the big screen. However, it looks like the film hasn't opened to great reviews. Takkar, directed by Karthik G Krish, has Siddharth and Divyansha Kaushik in the lead.

Check out the trailer below

The plot revolves around Gunasekhar (Siddharth) who takes up a job as a taxi driver in Chennai and dreams of getting rich, uber fast. When he rescues a rich woman named Lucky (Divyansha Kaushik) from kidnappers, they both go on a road trip where they explore the nuances of love and the significance of money in their lives.

OTTplay critic writes, "Karthik G Krish has filled this movie with so many regressive ideas camouflaging them in the skin of youthful drama. If you are a progressive thinker and you are alert to gender stereotyping and blatant body shaming, this movie would drive you to the edge. It seems Siddharth was so eager to redefine himself as an action hero he was willing to overlook the numerous issues with the movie's narrative."

It looks like the audience, too, have not taken kindly to the film.

According to Nishant Rajarajan, who watched the movie, the film is a boring affair. He wrote on his social media handle, "Boring! Jokes are just bland.A few scenes are new and fresh. But overall nothing stands out and catches your attention. Subplots are extremely weak and have no depth. Forgettable outing for #Siddarth (sic)."

Another user Gowri wrote, "The promotions are far more interesting than the story in the movie itself. The glamourous heroine & not at all funny comedians continue to reinforce that #Tamil cinema is sorely lacking in those two traditional areas again and again (sic).
