Actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin is on a roll; he has been bagging the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of much-hyped Kollywood movies in recent times. Vijay-starrer Beast, which released on April 13, is the latest release he has acquired. However, the action thriller fell short of expectations. The Tamil dubbed version of Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 has been attracting audiences in the state like never before. A few theatres in Chennai and other towns have been charting early morning shows even after the 10th day of its release.

Speaking at the single track launch of Lingusamy's The Warrior, Udhay said that the Tamil audience has always encouraged films which boast of engaging content. He said, "Be it straight films or dubbed films, Tamil movie buffs have been quite supportive from the beginning. It is this support which helps many filmmakers to come up with pan Indian projects."

All praise for Lingusamy at the event, Udhay said that he admires the filmmaker's dedication and wished that The Warrior goes on to become one of the biggest hits of his career. He also recollected teaming up with the director a decade ago for a project which had Vishal in the lead.

Though Harris Jayaraj had scored music for the movie, it didn't take off. Udhay said that he is hopeful of joining hands with Lingusamy in the future.

The Nenjuku Needhi actor requested Lingusamy to show him the movie before its release. The latter asked him if he had plans to bag its theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu. However, Udhay said that he is yet to decide about the same and that his request was out of his admiration for the filmmaker.

Interestingly, the previous outing of Ram, who plays the lead in the film, was Tollywood flick Red, which was the remake of Thadam directed by Magizh Thirumeni. Udhay was supposed to do the movie, but he had to opt out of it due to his busy schedule. He is now shooting for Magizh's untitled project.
