Tamilarasan: Here's when Vijay Antony's long-pending action drama is hitting the screens

Babu Yogeswaran's Tamilarasan has been lying in the cans for a long time. The Vijay Antony-starrer, which postponed its release many times, has now got a new release date. S Kowsalya Rani has bankrolled the project which has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. 

Suresh Gopi and Sonu Sood make a comeback to Kollywood with the film which has Ramya Nambeesan playing the female lead. Robo Shankar, Radha Ravi, Yogi Babu, Munishkanth and Sangeetha among others essay key characters in the movie which was completed before the pandemic.

The makers have announced that the action drama will hit the screens on December 30. This is likely to be the last notable release from Tamil cinema in 2022. Its story revolves around a family man who takes on a dreaded network which involves cops and a few other influential people.

AL Ramesh and Bhuvan Srinivasan have edited the project which has cinematography by RD Rajasekhar. Anal Arasu has choreographed action scenes for the film which has dance choreography handled by Dinesh Kumar and Sathish Krishnan. Tamilarasan is Vijay's release after more than a year's hiatus. Kodiyil Oruvan, which was released in theatres soon after the second lockdown, was his previous outing.  

Movie buffs are curious to know if December 30 is the final release date of Tamilarasan or whether makers would postpone it further. Zee Tamil has bagged the movie's satellite rights; Zee5 is likely to have acquired its digital rights.

Vijay Antony currently has half-a-dozen films in his kitty, including Pichaikkaran 2 which is his directorial debut. The crime thriller Kolai is likely to be his first outing in 2023.
