We had told you that Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer went on floors in Chennai on Monday. The team had released a still of the Superstar, which left his fans elated. Later, action choreographer Stun Siva posted a picture of himself along with director Nelson Dilipkumar from the location.
There has been various speculation on the project's cast and crew. The makers have now officially announced that Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi and Vinayakan are part of the movie's cast. According to a source, a sequence featuring Vinayakan and Yogi Babu was shot in a jail on Monday.
Ramya Krishnan had earlier shared screen presence with Rajinikanth in Padayappa and Baba while Yogi Babu acted along with the star in Darbar. This is the first time Vasanth and Vinayakan have become part of a project featuring the Superstar.
The names of Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Mohan among a few others, too, did the rounds on social media a while ago with regard to playing pivotal roles in it. Film buffs are eager to know if they are also part of the project being bankrolled by Sun Pictures. Anirudh was the first person to have come on board when makers announced the film earlier this year.
Jailer, which is said to hit the screens as a summer release in 2023, is crucial for both Rajinikanth and Nelson as their previous outings did not meet expectations. The former's last film, Siva's Annaatthe, opened to mixed reports and received criticism for its outdated storyline and weak screenplay.
On the other hand, Nelson's Beast, starring Vijay, drew flak from the star's fans for its unengaging sequences and superficial staging. However, Kollywood movie lovers have pinned high hopes on Jailer.
